The workshop consists of two sessions. Each session spans 120 minutes.

Session 1: The WHY, WHAT, and HOW of Personal Finance

Duration: 2 hours

The first session is more of an introspection session that brings you in touch with your reality. With the help of several interactive exercises, you will assess how much you earn, how much you spend, how much you save today, where you save, and how much you must save to meet your goals. And, if you are financially secure?

Session 2: All You Need to Know to Invest with Confidence

Duration: 2 hours

The second session digs deeper to help you plan your future. The goal of this workshop is to get you comfortable with how returns are calculated and how you should interpret them, what to look for in a financial advisor, if the recommended mutual funds are right for you or not, how to analyze if a recommended investment is the right fit for your portfolio, and why buying houses on loans is NOT a sound investment.

By the end of this session, you should be confident of not getting fooled by any recommendations and know what questions to ask.

What will I learn in this session:

  • How returns are calculated; how to interpret monthly and yearly return.
  • Find out how much you need to save to retire comfortably
  • The ABCs of mutual funds
  • What type of funds to invest in for what type of goals
  • What questions to ask a financial advisor / How to hire the right financial advisor
  • Should you invest if you an investment is complex to understand?

Pre-work: Be clear on your income, expenses if you started tracking after Session 1, and what savings you have currently across all your accounts. Be clear on 1 short-term and 2 long-term goals.
